Vetalcoholpolyoxyethyleenether sulfonaat (AESO) werd gesynthetiseerd door de volgende twee stappenreacties: vetalcohol polyoxyethyleen ether 5 (AEO-5) reageerde met metaalsatrium met metallisch natrium om natriumalkoxide te vormen, het natriumalkoxide reageerde met 2-chloorsulfonaat Natrium om AESO te vormen.

Chemische structuur:

AEO's zijn vetalcoholpolyoxyethyleenethers op basis van natuurlijke prime C12- 14 alcohol en ethyleenoxide.

Storerooms mogen niet worden oververhit (<50 ⁰c). De stollingspunten van deze producten moeten ook worden overwogen. Vloeistof die is gestold of die tekenen van sedimentatie vertoont, moet voor gebruik zacht worden verwarmd tot 50-60⁰c en geagiteerd.
